Summa, Summa, Summertime!

I'm liking this summer life.  I wish mom & dad had more time off so we could go do lots of fun things (or is that what I hear them say all the time?), but we enjoy every minute that we do have to enjoy each other - and it is not raining!  This week it has been starting to get warm, so hopefully that means more trips to the pool.  So far we have gone twice.  We have however brought out the slip and slide.  The whole family got in on the action.  The next door neighbors even let me play with them when they have theirs out.  I am working on negotiating summer bedtime hours with dad because everyone else is out playing, I think I should be able to too.  Now do I like the mornings?  Well.....I'm getting better.

Because I am behind per usual, I am just going to give you quick updates in no particular order.

Heidi is doing good eating by herself...as you can see here.

I have started gymnastics and really am doing well.  I like to do somersaults ALL the time now.  We get to do lots of fun things like rings, parallel bars, balance beam…but I like the trampoline and jumping into the foam pits too.  I like going and watching…but they won't let me in.  Why is it that the answer to everything is always that I have to wait till I'm older?  Ugh….so annoying.  I do have fun flirting with all the parents that are there.  It usually just takes a few short words and I have them.  She really is getting to say a LOT of words these days.  Not just No, milk, shoes, and Nala.  Mom likes that she is learning to be polite by saying please, thank you, help, night-night.  Dad just wants her to say dada.  Still not happening.  She also has started to tell us when she goes potty…and recently before.  Well I did NOT like it when I went in my swim diaper it is like not having a diaper on and I HATE it when I have accidents.  Like it is devasting and takes lots of consoling, but then I get over it!  Yes, I have a fear that she is going to beat me in the potty training department.  I have mastered changing her diaper though, so she will have to wait at least a few more months!
This was my 1st stab at somersaults, I'm much better now!

Here is a video of me doing some reading...

I'm driving a Fire truck!
We had a school carnival where we got to ride a pony, fire truck, pet some animals, and even get our nails done.  We were suppose to perform some songs we learned all week at Vacation Bible School….but we had to leave early because mom & dad had to go to some concert.  Seriously, shouldn't they want to hear me first?  We hear her sing all the time (well all songs from Frozen that is).
look at these fun snorkel masks we made it school!

sharing is difficult

dancing with daddy!

We celebrated Fathers Day with the best dad ever.  We gave him lots of love and then went to a local beer festival where one of his favorite bands (from when he was young - obviously a LONG time ago) the BoDeans was playing.  I thought the music was a bit loud, but then I got use to it and even showed off some dance moves.  Along with the music and beer fun for dad…they had some fun stuff for the kids, i got my face painted…and we both rode on the ferris wheel with dad.  So fun!!!

We went to another concert last night by mom's work.  We picnic'd, danced, and played with Evan & Zach.  Yep, the Ungles were there too!  Hopefully it gets to be a weekly activity.  I have been told that is wishful thinking.  Apparently I am too cranky after late nights.

We went to a Royals game….on a week night!  It was a lot of fun.  I sang along to the music, watched "Nala" (aka Lil Slugger) and made lots of friends with the people around me.  I ate a corn dog, popcorn, begged for cotton candy, and made lots of trips to the bathroom.  All in all a great trip.  I'm pretty sure they won.  Which we could use some more of these days.

Summertime means lots of barbecuing.  The Nass' came over for some dinner and playing and brought some watermelon - which yes I eat…but about 1/20th the amount of Heidi.  Yes, I love it.  aI think I ate 1/2 of it.

Just some more pictures of us playing.  We have so much fun together.  We play together all the time…sometimes Heidi tries to "help" me when I put together puzzles.  She is so good at them, I have to give her some challenges.  But then she gets mad at me for messing her up.  So I in turn hit and bite her.  I know it is not right and I will get in trouble, but sometimes being the smallest person EVERYWHERE you go wears on a girl.  I try not to do that quite as often and as you can see have a lot of fun tackling Amelia instead.

still obsessed with playing in the car.

mom says she thinks we look alike here
Oh yeah, we dog sat for Kirby - this was Marley first BFF.  Nala completely wore him out!

Dad has been working the weekends so mom took us to Farmers market one time and a girls trip to the mall another!  I can now ride the carousel by myself!

And of course we have been cheering on the USA in the World Cup!  I believe that we will win!

80's headband Heidi says bye for now.  Amelia OUT!

Fun in the Sun

After one crazy May, we are now ready for some downtime and perhaps I will stay more up to date on blogging.  Because looking through 500+ pictures was not fun!   So, this will be our first weekend in 7 weeks where we are not out of town or have out of town guests.  Don't get me wrong it has been full of AWESOME.  Truthfully, I am worried that I am going to get bored.  I have already requested to go another road trip.  Mom & dad don't seem to be as excited with that idea.  So for now, here are some highlights from the last post.

Slugger tried attacking mom!
Elmo came down for a visit over mom's birthday weekend.  (Yes, now she is also old!  Although not as old as dad!)  They went to a Royals game while we got to play with her.  We had lots of fun.  She even brought her Christmas present down so we made her a stone for her garden.  Speaking of gardens, Amelia and I help out with watering our plants.  It is so much fun.  Really, these days I love anything where I can get dirty or climb on things.  So obviously there is lots of laundry and scratches.  Not me, scratches require a weeks worth of band-aids, so I am very careful.  As you can see, Elmo let me climb on her, so I returned the favor and gave lots of good kisses!

Laughing with Elmo....

We celebrated mom's birthday with an Ben&Jerry's Ice cream cake.  Dad does know her well.  And us!  It was soooo good.  I think we both had to change clothes after that!  We also did our nails!   Yes, we LOVE doing our nails.  We did it like a rainbow.  Mom even let me paint hers…and I did really good.  Of course!

love it when dad takes us
for smoothies!
The next weekend it was just us and dad.  I guess mom decided we needed some quality time together, so she went to Florida with my godmother, Sonja.  She came back nice and relaxed.  They have been friends for over 30 years. Hopefully I have a lifelong friend like that one day! I got pretty use to daddy time, I guess I was suppose to be more excited when she returned.  But I had lots of fun with dad.  We watched movies, ate popcorn, went to a party at Nick & Mollie's where I ate four cookies, I mean how great is all of that?

This past weekend was lots of fun.  Even if I was in the car for a long time.  I am getting to be a pretty good traveler.  Just wait till I move to front facing and get to watch movies with Amelia.  Whatever, she has no interest in any of my shows…and the way we sit now is fun because we can make faces at each other.  Anyway, back to the trip.  We went to the Omaha zoo.  That place is really cool….well it was actually kind of hot, but you know what I mean.  I loved the giraffes.  I had my first sky safari ride…it was so neat.  I pointed out lots of animals to daddy.  We also had a ton of fun with the penguins.  Ok, maybe just playing on the bars.

Right before we left we played in this cool safari car.  Little did we know that the next day we were going to get to do some off roading of our own in Matt's cool speed racer car!

We spent Thursday and Friday night at the lake house.  Mom talks about how it is her dream house.  I don't disagree.  There is so much room…and so many big toys.  4 wheelers, boats, etc.  Yeah, I had my first boat ride.  I liked papa's pontoon boat.  But Matt's was fun…and mom was on it.  I got to watch the cousins wakeboard and surf.  Yes, surf….right behind the boat with no rope.  Bailey won for staying up the longest.  We'll get video next time.  Dad even got up and looked pretty good.  But as you can see, he did also go down.  And I got to go on the bouncy house in the water.  I think dad called it a 'tube'.  I went on with mom & dad and papa drove.  It was so much fun….as long as papa didn't speed up too fast.  When I told them I was all done, my genius parents forgot to get back on the tube so we got buried and fell in the water (that was COLD).  I was not real thrilled, but I will forgive.  I spent the rest of the day just watching others fly all around on the tube and getting nana to buy me an ice cream cone.  Life is good.

Jay and Jack even made me a big fire on their fire pit so Gabby, Will, and I could roast marshmallows. Yummy!

We had so much fun.  We even watched Frozen.  Can't go wrong there.

making pancakes with Rachelle
We went back to H-town on Saturday because mom & dad went to Tommy's wedding.  I heard dad really cut a rug.  I think they missed out on my skills.  I guess I have to wait until the next wedding to shake on the dance floor.  By then I will probably be in dance lessons.  Here's hoping they don't teach away all the great moves I have learned from dad.  We didn't go to the dance since it was way after bedtime.  But what the parents didn't know was we were up and playing with nana, Rachelle, Rhonda, Jason, etc. till after 10 anyway.  That shows them….now they have no reason to not take me next time.

We got suckers!!

nail time with Rhonda
Needless to say, we were pretty tired on the way home….we made it all the way to St. Joe so were rewarded with a stop at the Cracker Barrel…papa's favorite.  We did love the chairs.
And just a few more pics.  I love playing with Heidi.  We have so much fun together.
We color most every day after school while we wait for mom to get home.  Loved my rainbow.
I have some impressive jumping abilities, if I do say so myself.

I also finished up my private swim lessons, I did alright (and Heidi at least isn't afraid of the water anymore), but I still have some work to do if I want to be able to go down slides by myself.  So hopefully the parents are getting me enrolled in some summer/outdoor classes.  Mom says if we win the lottery she will take me to the pool a bit every day so I can just learn that way.  Come on powerball!!

I still prefer playing in the sand.  Once I get over my feet getting dirty that is!

Until next time, Amelia OUT!
