Happy New Year! It has been a long time since last blogging, the craziness of the holidays can do that to you. Last time, I shared that I am on the move. Well, it is a good thing because December was a crazy month. I had lots of people to show my skills to. Here goes nothing....we will try to keep it short, but we have the gift of gab - so that won't happen.

We left off all ready for the holiday season...so we started with a service project. By helping to pack 295K meals to go to Haiti. Heidi and I packed and colored boxes, it was a lot of fun!

We even got some snow so got to do a first run of sledding. It was Heidi's first time and she liked it as much as me. So did Nala, she ran up and down with us. One time we knocked her over...ooops! We then had 1 more day of school to get in before a week vacation...and well, let's just say that Heidi threw a wrench in those plans.

Hey, this is my story. It's true. I did not make school. The morning of the 23rd, we were moving around like usual - I was watching Amelia go potty (privacy is not a known word in our house), and given I had only been walking a week or 2, I slipped. Not that abnormal, but the fact that I like to stick my tongue out and there was a big porcelain bath tub right there - didn't mesh well and the next thing I know there was blood everywhere. Needless to say I let mom know it really hurt. Once I started playing with this thing hanging off of my tongue, mom realized we had to go to the hospital. It was all a bit of a blur, I remember Amelia sitting in the backseat telling me it was all OK, while mom was freaking out in the car. Lucky for us, daddy was there waiting for us. The docs came and checked me out and said that they were going to have to stitch up my tongue laceration, but since I ate such a big breakfast (umm....little do they know that cheerios, a waffle, and yogurt are nothing!), I had to wait THREE hours till surgery. Can you give a girl a painkiller or something? I do have half my tongue just dangling in my mouth. (p.s. the answer to that is no....) So instead we sat and waited and attempted to play with toys. I will say that Childrens Mercy was a very nice place to be, probably could have been worse. After a while 3 nurses came in, 1 to hold me down, 1 to distract with an ipad, and 1 to stick a big needle in my hand for the IV. I preferred to watch the latter, oddly it was relaxing. (Dad on the other hand, was looking a little green)...it was so relaxing that I took a nap, I kind of remember them putting things all over me, but the next thing I remember is mom trying to wake me up with a cold soda can (apparently they were getting antsy that I wasn't going to come out of it). I was a bit woozy and wasn't nearly as strong as I thought I was...but after the full day there they finally let me leave...with 3 stitches in my tongue (thanks a lot!). although, I am told that is better than the alternative. As it has now been 11 days since the incident, I am back to normal. I am not going to lie, the whole 'soft foods' thing was the toughest on me. And...getting a glimpse of people's reactions when they saw my tongue. Not cool. I am pretty much all healed up, I have a big white scar/line down it - but mom says that is scar tissue and will probably go away. I also have a slight v on the side (better than middle, I guess)...I am still a bit self conscious, so there aren't many pictures.
This is the only one I could kind of find.
It was drama filled, and I am happy to recount the morning to you anytime. I also remind mom to not get blood all over shirt all the time. To not be outdone completely, I did successfully wake up on Christmas Eve with pink eye. That was awesome, but I got started on medicine right away, not soon enough to keep Heidi free of it though (yeah, thanks sis - as if I didn't deal with enough). I suffered through a bit, and somehow passed to Will (sorry cuz..), but it was nothing.
Amidst all that we had a nice Christmas Eve. We got dressed up in our fancy garb and went to church. We even sat in big church with mom and dad. Well, Heidi walked around the foyer with dad. I am so glad that I got to go with them though...because guess what? At the end, they turned off all the lights, gave us all candles to light and we sang....wait for it... SILENT NIGHT! Needless to say, I sang my heart out. Sometimes they were a bit too slow for me so I got ahead, but it was AWESOME! I reinacted my abilities to the whole Steffen clan at nana and papas house over Skype. I am THAT good.
We had a yummy dinner (which I got none of) and then opened presents. It was lots of fun. We had to get to bed though as it was getting late and Santa was going to come!! We left him some milk & cookies (totally forgot about the poor reindeer!) and went off to dreamland.
I am pretty sure I heard them on top of the roof. When we finally woke up in the AM (yeah, no rushing to get out of bed for the Steffen sisters)....we went downstairs to find our new very own playhouse!! It is pretty sweet. We spent some of the morning playing with it, while mom and dad got us ready for our trip to Elmo's house!

| Just some sister wrestling... |
Our time in Lincoln was awesome. Thanks to an uneventful drive, we got to Elmo's pretty early and had time to open ALL of our presents. Yeah, she got lots of fun stuff for us. Lots of books...which I always like.
She made us a yummy dinner, and I quickly let it be known that I was so tired of this 'no solid food' diet, so they gave in and at least let me have my favorite...green beans! We had lots of fun with Elmo and got to see other people while we were in Lincoln too. The next day we got to see Papa McLain. We checked out his new apartment, it is very cool. I need to paint him some pictures to put on the wall though! He gave me and Heidi some real cool toys too!! We sure are lucky to be loved by so many people. This Christmas thing rocks!
We also saw my godfather, BJ! We went over to his house and played and ate some yummy food. I had a lot of fun playing with the girls downstairs (Abby & Ella P. came over too!) they were all so nice and fun to play with. I wish we could see them more. I tried talking them all into making another trip down to Worlds of Fun when it gets warm!
Serious time
Now Silly!
Our last day in Lincoln we got to meet mom's friend Sarah's NEW twin girls. That is right she already has twins around my age (but they were at school...bummer). So the babies (Piper & Rose) came to Elmos for a visit. Boy were they tiny, they were cute. But I'm not all that into babies.
I, on the other hand, was not very thrilled when mom tried to hold them. She is my mommy! Maybe I'll be more friendly next time we see them. Yeah, I hear they have a new big house with a great play area to check out! After our visit we headed north for our next round of Christmas fun.
We made our 1st stop for some basketball fun as our cousins Bailey and Ryan were playing in Wayne. Not going to lie, didn't spend much time watching the game, but had a lot of fun seeing everyone. The next few days were full of excitement.

we loved playing with this kitchen, and talked them
into letting us take it home to our playhouse. It fits perfectly! |
 |
Rachelle had a uh-oh!! Lasagna off the
oven still tastes good too! |
We played a lot with nana, papa, & Rachelle...and also fit in some time to make gingerbread house with Will & Jay and a trip to the farm!
And a nap or two!

We had a blast at Christmas. Everyone was there. So needless to say, neither one of us had to do much walking. We had fun playing all kinds of games (no it was by no means quiet), eating, and of course opening presents. I got a super cool art easel from my godfather Eric. It was nice seeing him again and getting to know his girlfriend, Kaitlin. She was really nice too.
Gabby hooked me up with some clothes. How perfect is this shirt for me?

I scored big too as my pretty godmother Danielle gave me some fun toys and Bailey got me some sweet shoes and hat. I loved them both so much that I wore them pretty much all night and have even learned to say both words. So now you can add shoes and hat to my list of now....four words. I have a feeling by next blog that list will have doubled or more! Oh, and not to forget. I got my first haircut. I can see now and people can see my pretty eyes now that I am rockin' my bangs. Thanks Aunt Brenda for helping make me pretty (and mom and dad too!).

I think Will & Jay liked our presents for them. I suppose we should find out how they are doing with them, now > a week later.
A couple of videos to see how wired I was after the Christmas fun.
Happy Birthday Jesus!
Reading to Papa

We had a great time as always seeing everyone, but we had to make it back home to clean up and get ready for our party. Party you say? Yes, we had our 2nd annual NYE bash. Lots of friends came to play (I think our playhouse was a hit!), eat, and ring in the new year. Ok, we didn't stay up till midnight...I guess we did our countdown a little early so we could all enjoy it with jumping on bubbles (that sounded just like fireworks!), we also blew our horns, and did some party poppers. Needless to say it was a bit loud. I'm sure glad they were all able to come.

Evan's mom & dad brought Fun Dip. Yeah, you heard me
right. Can't go wrong with using sugar to eat more sugar! |
As I did good during our travels (even with all the issues/owies), that hopefully mom & dad will let us venture up to Nebraska again soon! Until then.....Heidi & Amelia OUT!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Here is a late edition video from my school Christmas party. yeah, we all have some "dance" moves. And proof that I did actually end up talking to Santa. I figured once everyone else did it at school, I could try!
