A day in the life of the Steffen Sisters!: July 2015

Summer finally feels like it is here. Which means baseball and swimming pools. Am I right? Dad pulled out his little league baseball hat, fits me perfect, no?

We haven't made it to as many Royals games lately, although we did make it to Tuesday's walk off grand slam game, which was… LOUD. Yes, Heidi is right, but it was also awesome! Too bad dad didn't get to come with us. Most of the time we just catch them on the TV at home. I like to root for my boys in blue…actually sometimes they wear white or grey. I digress, I am learning my players. Alex Gordon is still my favorite, (the first thing I told all my friends at school today was that Gordon got hurt yesterday, Heidi and I are devasted by this) but I do like to yell Moooooooose every time I see him do something (yes, even when I'm the only one watching). I am trying to be a good ball player myself. I call myself "Amelia Cain", mainly because I am #6. And I may just have some of us his fielding skills. I am the only one always ready when we are on defense. Here are a few shots from our last game. You see, I am not up against much. Many of the boys sit (or lay down) and play with dirt. But as you can see in this video, I also can hit.

Outside of baseball, other summer activities have included:

Trips to the pool. Lots of those. We are trying to enjoy as much time with mom outside until she goes back to the real world. We often run into my friend Caden from school there.

Road trips! Yes, we went to see my BFF Ava in her new house in Joplin. It was AMAZING. Yes, they had a slide bunk bed (totally working the parents for one of those!), and a super fun playroom with babies! Vivian likes babies as much as me. I knew we had things in common! Well my favorite part was their pool! They had an awesome deck and pool complete with a super fun slide. Needless to say I couldn't wait to jump in! We had so much fun together.

But it didn't end…we then drove to Branson to Silver Dollar City to ride rides. Unfortunately, I was a 1/2 inch to short to ride the big roller coasters. Devastating I know. Well I still had an inch and a half to get to ride the kiddie rides, so try that on for size sis. On top of the fun with the Daltons, this was our 3rd annual trip to SDC with friends. So we got to see and spend time with everyone! Unfortunately we never got a full group shot, but it was the usual crowd. In addition to 2 days at the park (note, 2 pairs of rolled up socks did NOT get me the extra 1/2 inch I needed day 2, so I have to wait for those big rides), we celebrated Zach's birthday with cake, we went swimming and even made smokes by the fire pit. All in all another great trip.

Yep, still enjoying extra time with mom which means we have had some fun with others. We have hung out with little Ava & family, met Leo the little bunny at mommy's friend Jillain's house (and totally raided her necklace jackpot!)

We met our friend Davis, and his mommy Steph who is about to have a baby, out for a fun day at the farm.

And speaking of farm…. Aunt Rhonda and Jason came and visited us for a couple days! He was playing basketball close by (ie. in Kansas), so they came to hang out. It was awesome!

4th of July. Can't forget that. We had perfect weather to celebrate the day. We went to our neighborhood parade and rocked it. I got to re-wear my Great American costume and we decked out our green car, so we led the pack in the parade! After a real quick nap, we got ready for visitors. Guess what? Ava and Vivian came down to see us. 2 weeks in a row we got to play. Awesome! We played for a while, then some other friends came to join in the fun. Mason, Maddie, Graham, Evan, & Zach were also here. We had a lot of fun eating, water balloons, doing a few fireworks, playing wiffleball in the fairway, and of course the highlight watching the big fireworks from Corporate woods. It was a late night, but well worth it!
