Dreaming Big!

You can really pull of the sweatband look!  You too!  Good thing...because it is HOT these days!
So apparently, if you take hundreds of pictures a week you should plan accordingly as your hard drive fills up fast.  Now that mom has done some fancy backing up, etc. I can continue on with my blog.  And there is lots to share.  Where to begin?

Well, we are getting big.  Lots of things to prove this:

  •  I moved up to the next room in school with the 3 year olds (yes, I am ALMOST 3).  So far so good, in the 1st few days they have said how they are impressed with how I talk their ear off.  (I do like telling stories)...and my artistic abilities.  I quite enjoy to color, draw, and paint.  ALL the time.  I have almost completely worn out my first set of markers.  I am getting better in writing some letters and shapes too.  Speaking of school.  I have a lot of fun every morning counting how many school buses I see.  It all depends on if we are running late...but usually it is 3 or 4.  I can't wait till I can ride a school bus!

  • I have been overhearing talks of me also moving up.  Mom doesn't sound too thrilled with this, I keep telling her I can't stay a baby forever but she is disagreeing.  In preparation for the new room, I have to start using the sippy cup more, move to big girl real milk, wear shoes, etc.  I am trying to hold off on all of that as long as possible.  But I did just turn 11 months old...so it is inevitable!  I am pulling myself up more, but don't quite balance standing on my own.  I'll take a few steps if you hold my hands...but really am not that motivated to do so.  I move around so fast crawling, why bother?  Because of my standing skills, dad moved my crib down to bottom level, it seems to feel the same...so I'm ok with that.
notice the cool mickey sheets!
  • I beat Heidi on this one....I am now officially in a big girl bed!  Yep, my bed is big enough to fit all of us in it!  I especially like laying in bed and having daddy read to me...and yes, I talked mom into napping with me in it last weekend.  (It didn't take too much prodding)
No picture from the big slide, but you can see the
classy set up dad gave us so we could swim in shade
in the backyard!
  • The last proof of getting big...I went down the BIG slide at the swimming pool.  You all know that when it comes to water, I'm pretty adventurous...well I told mom and dad that I wanted to go down the big slide at our local pool.  22 ft high according to their website.  They didn't think I would do it and finally believed me when I made it up the 2 first flights of stairs on my own.  Mom decided to come up and join me and talked the lifeguard into letting me go down.  So she went first and then I came down next....it was SO fun.  Although I did get flipped around and ended up coming down on my tummy - fast!  Minus the water in my eyes, I loved it.  I think I will wear goggles for the next time.  Go big or go home!
Enjoy the pictures (it was a lot of effort to get them on!).

Us girls took a road trip up to Liberty one Saturday to visit my friend Davis and his mommy to see their new house.  Despite the distance from us...it is super nice.  Davis has a lot of new toys that I had fun exploring.  I think Amelia did too (when she wasn't afraid of their pets, that is!).  After getting some good playing time in, we all went out for lunch.  I think I heard the mom's say something about 'never again', but I thought it was fun.  Hopefully we'll get to keep seeing each other often as Davis is one cool cat.  (Don't worry Amelia....just a saying)

Dad and I had a daddy/daughter outing at a night Royals game.  It was AWESOME.  I will say I was a bit confused at first as they were wearing red.  My Go big Royals where Blue...but we do also say Go Big Red... huh?  Nonetheless, lets get down to what I was really there for....food.  I had: a foot long corn dog, popcorn, ice-cream, and cotton candy!!  Needless to say I was dancing around and enjoying all the activities from my sugar high!  Dad complained about a yucky tummy from all that food, but I felt great!  Hopefully we'll get to do that again sometime soon!!

This is what I did while they went to the Royals game!

I still got some daddy bonding time in.  I LOVE giving kisses right now.  Even 'eskimo' style.

One of our favorite weekend activities - Driving at Hy-Vee!
And a trip to the Farmers Market....since it was hot, I took a break in the water!
Having a little fun with chalk
We made a visit over for some yummy dinner and Royals watching at dad's cousin Nick & Mollie's house.  Another cousin, Adam, has moved to town...and as you can see, Heidi took a liking to him!  Hopefully we will get to see them again soon.

Dad says I may be "OCD"....Obviously Cute Daughter??  He will thank me one day for my organization.

Sweet Dreams!  Amelia & Heidi OUT!

Up Up and Away!

flying real high
I am going to have to let the pictures guide me through this time as I feel like I have some short term memory problem.  I can't even tell you what I had for lunch today let alone give you updates for the past few weeks.  Here goes nothing...

apparently this is why dad
doesn't touch me after going
down slides.  Electricity!!
Weather has been crazy nice.  I keep hearing mom groan about how why wasn't it this nice when Heidi was in her tummy.  Oh boo hoo.  Anyway, we have enjoyed it with some visits to the park, swinging, swimming pool, and even a Royals game this past weekend.  You all know my love for the Royals (ahem....corn dogs)  Yeah, Mr. Glass, perhaps she should give me some season tickets because the Royals are undefeated when I go.  Dad says he will take me to the play off game if it comes to that (false hope?).
I spied an "A" & "H" outside the Hall of Fame when trying to find some shade, so we took some pictures.  It may not look like Heidi is having fun, but she was quite the ham making goo goo eyes at anyone we sat in front of.  I can't tell you how many times I heard how cute she is.  These one girls missed a whole inning because they were playing with her.  (yes, we sat in multiple seats - we didn't actually go up to the nosebleeds where our seats were!)

Talk about one huge balloon.  Noah's Ark!
The other super fun thing we did out in this beautiful weather was a trip to the Great American Balloon festival.  I was excited when mom told me we were going to go see some balloons, but I had NO idea.  These were huge!  We met my friends Evan, Zach, & Mason there too.  It was so much fun, we got to go in this area where there were like 10 bouncy houses.  They had this huge bouncy slide too!  Dad didn't think I would do it, but I did....and loved it!   Needless to say, we all worked up a sweat and appetite.  So we went and got some food and watched as they blew up the big balloons full of hot air.  I think going up in it would be pretty cool, but the line was really long.  We lasted past our bedtime and almost in time for the night light where I guess they 'light' up all of the balloons.  Heidi decided she had had enough though, so we took off right before that.  I guess that wasn't such a bad deal though because we didn't have to wait to get out of there.  We were home fast enough that I coerced dad into letting me still watch a Mickey Mouse!  Maybe next year.  Thanks to Mrs. Shelley for the invite to such a fun event.
trying out the hula hoops!
I had my first port-a-potty trip.  Stinky!

Yes, everyone is looking!
Not so much in this one!

We have had some nice rain mixed in with this awesome weather, which has given me ample opportunity to wear my rain boots (yes, I wear them all day at school) and try out my new umbrella.  I like rain.  Perhaps I should try dancing in the rain?  Check out the videos below to see my mad skills in that area.

Heidi isn't joining my dance parties yet, but she does get around pretty good.  She now gets on her knees a bit more when crawling, but goes to the standby army crawl when she really wants to get moving.  She is happy to now give kisses.  The problem is, she comes at me with an open mouth.  The same open mouth that often results in a bite, so it is hard for me to get excited with this new display of affection.  Mom on the other hand, milks it up.  She has started on a sippy cup of water with dinner (ps. that girl can EAT), she loves it.  Now she mainly forgets to swallow and just soaks herself, but whatever floats her boat, right?

Who else has hair envy?

Love being a big sister!  Feeding Heidi and even giving her spins in my pink choo choo
