Slam Dunk!

Yep, lots of basketball going on around this house!

Doc, let me get that measurement for you!
Hey, Amelia...I get to start this post as I am now a half a year old.  That is right, I hit the 6 month mark this week.  Mom is walking around all nostalgic talking about time going too fast.  But I think in the end, we are all happy that my first 6 months have been so great.  Yes, Heidi - I will agree.  I have really enjoyed having you around, hopefully that doesn't change.  Well, I will keep changing and growing so watch out Big SIS.  I went to the doctor this week where they did the normal checks.  I am most definitely growing...and faster than Amelia did.  I have 2 lbs on her when she was my age.  I weighed in at a whopping 15 lbs 7 oz, and 25 1/2 inches.  My weight, height, and head are all around the 35-40%....yay for proportions!  Doc didn't have much to say, she said I looked and sounded good.  I got the go ahead to add some more solids to my diet.  I do LOVE cereal, so am looking forward to trying new things.  In fact, mom gave me some guacamole on my 1/2 bday....I didn't hate it.  After doc left a nurse came in and stuck TWO large needles in my legs...I still do NOT like that.  But after letting them hear it for 15-20 seconds, all was good again.  It has kind of hurt the couple days after, so I haven't quite been myself.  Nothing a little Tylenol can't help with though.  I heard dad saying how happy he was that I can now have Motrin.  Apparently that is some good stuff.   What else, the nurse said that I shouldn't be swaddled anymore, but the doctor said 'do what you need to do'....I say if you guys want to sleep too, you best be swaddling me.  I guess dad is a bit worried as i have started to roll over and sleep on my stomach while my arms are in.  I am making an effort to not do that anymore so that they don't make me 'free arm' it....but I can't help that I like to move a lot in my sleep!

Amelia always has to get in on my monthly pictures!
Here is a video of Amelia feeding me I forgot to share last time and one of me telling her whats up.

Sometimes we take baths together too!
Just showing how hard it is to get everyone smiling at
same time!

Ok, enough about you and your growing.  Let me tell you about some fun we had last weekend.  My uncles Matt & Gayle came down with my cousins; Ryan, Jack, Jason, & Jay.  Despite all the stinky feet (ahem...Jack), it was awesome seeing them!  Really I didn't get to see them all that much because they showed up after we were in bed Thursday night.  I saw them for a little bit Fri AM, but then I had to go to school and they were off for a whole day of watching bball.  Jay was wise and decided he had enough, so he switched spots with dad and came back home for the night games to hang out with me.  He even had a tea party with me!  I let him watch some of my Mickey Mouse, I could tell he was digging it too.  Saturday, after getting everyone up and moving (and boy I thought I didn't like to wake up in the AM)...we all went out for some breakfast.  I had some chocolate chip pancakes....yummy!  Then they were off again more playing and watching basketball...but I soaked up the time with them that I could...apparently they don't jive with my toddler schedule.  Oh well, Sunday I got to spend more time with them because the games didn't start until the afternoon.  So we played in the snow.  Yep, SNOW.  AGAIN.  They were nice enough to do some shoveling, so I decided to get all bundled up and 'help'....oh, ok....i just tried to get people to build me a snowman. That was a little tough, but I did get some playing in. As it is almost April, I am thinking it was my last chance!  We ventured out and found out the roads were actually not so great...so just had quick brunch and then headed back home.  I sat at the boys table...and felt pretty darn special! Then we all went back home and played some more.  I sure have some pretty fun cousins, I'm glad they were willing to play with me and read me stories!

I'm worn out.....massage please!
ipad time with Jack
It was a GOOD book.
One day, blowing bubbles outside

And playing in the snow the next.  Ahh....Spring

That is all for now....I guess I have another BIG weekend ahead of me, so looking forward to that!  Amelia OUT!
A picture clue of my big weekend ahead.  And showing you
my OCD skills of lining things up.

No excuses

"I tired".  Mom likes this face, and my curls!
It has been so long since I have blogged, that I'm not even sure what all to write.  We are now a couple weeks into this Daylight Saving Time business and I think I have finally adjusted.  But seriously, who wants to wake up when it is still pitch dark out!  Lucky for me, my internal clock is still quite all right with going to bed at normal time, even though it is bright out.  Speaking of....I will say, I am quite fond of the sun staying up longer.  Now that the snow is all gone, we have even got outside to go for quick walks or swing.  It is nice to get some Vitamin D....because we are really TRYING to stay healthy these days!  (Of course, since I first started writing this....we have now got even more snow....it is never ending!)

I really like this new swing thing Amelia talks about too....I giggle through out.  And boy oh boy does Amelia go high.  I love just watching her go back and forth.  Mom says I am a good tracker.  Of course mom can't find the video anymore.  These days I am getting good at a lot of things.  Especially grabbing everything in sight.  I have figured out that I can use my rolling abilities to get across the room to get closer to Amelia, a toy, or whatever.  I guess I am more on the go than Amelia ever was.  Just trying to keep up folks!  I've been told I should start sitting up on my own, but I really don't have much of a desire, so I usually just take face plants instead.  I do however thoroughly enjoy sitting in my high chair and letting Amelia feed me cereal.  Sometimes I find it necessary to help her get the spoon in my mouth, but really she does a good job....so I humor her.  She seems to like it.  Dad says I get to start trying some new things here pretty soon.  Sounds good to me!
Mom and Dad say that they are blessed to have two good sleepers.  I say....thank God for sleepsacks.  Wrap me up, and I'm out.  Daycare says it is amazing how easy I go down too.  I heard mom saying she should negotiate for cheaper rates since I'm so easy....but we all know that isn't going to happen.  If I do happen to wake up and manage to get my arms out, then game over.  So who knows what will happen once they stop making sleepsacks in my size!  I had some alone time with mom on Friday because Dad and Amelia took a road trip.
I'll take it from here Heidi, since you did not come with us.  I thought everybody was going to go and so did Dad and Mom.  Heidi apparently wanted some alone time with  Mom because she faked a fever to stay home.  So Dad loaded me up in the mini and off we went to watch some basketball.  I watched a little bit of Lion King and then took a long nap.  When I woke up we were at Oma's house and I went straight to bed.  We got up early the next morning and I woke Oma up and went for a walk with Sadie.  Dad was waiting for me when we got home and we jumped it the car and went to watch uncle Matt coach cousin Ryan in basketball.  I sat with Grandma Kay for awhile but she scared me with her hooting and loud cheering.  I saw almost all of my cousins during the game and cheered for them.  Unfortunately they lost, I might add the other team shot 55% from 3 land.  I don't know what that means but dad was telling me about it.  After the game we went and ate at the hotel, where grandpa Mclain showed up and ate with us, I was excited to see him.

Gabby and Jay took me swimming after that and boy I can't wait to get my swim lessons, so I can swim with them in the future and not have to just be held.  I went back and hung with Oma the rest of the day and ate dinner with her.  Dad came in and swept me up and off we went again.  This time I got to watch Rella on the way home.  I didn't tell you because I didn't want mom to know what I ate while on our short trip.  Dad fed me a pretzel with cheese for breakfast, corn dog for lunch, and Oma gave me mac and cheese with hot dogs for dinner.  Dad says when away from mom this is how we eat.  So we were gone for a total of 27 hours.  I don't think Heidi even missed us.  Sorry there weren't many pictures if any, dad was in charge of that.

Other updates were a trip to my friend Maddie's house and celebrating some snake and Saint Patty?  That is Maddie's mommy's name.... i don't know...it was very confusing.  I just know I had to wear green lots of days.  But it was fun to see some friends and eat some good food and CAKE and I went to my first parade!  It was a little chilly, but I thought it was pretty cool.  Well except for the scary leprechaun.  He wasn't giving my any Lucky Charms, so I wanted nothing to do with him!

We had green pancakes on St. Patty's day.  No complaints here!
I will work on not taking as big of a break before next time, so that I can actually remember enough to share with you.  I can tell you next time will have some visitor updates.  I know that because as I type, I am hanging out with my cousin Jay.  Yep, woke up this morning to a house full of boys!  More on that next time.  Prepare for LOTS of sister bonding pictures below.  I pick out Heidi's clothes every day...as I HAVE to make sure that she wears same colors as me.  Sometimes, we even wear the same shoes!!  Like I said...bonding.

Sometimes I have to tell Amelia how it is!

Here I am playing with my cool toy from Oma

And literally 2 minutes later....it wore me out!

Until next time, Amelia (& Heidi) OUT!

SO Over it!

I got a new tea set from grandma that I take everywhere!
So over what you say?  Snow & Sicknesses!  We have had an over abundance of both this February.  So believe me when I say, I'm ready for March!!

I know it's been awhile since my last blog, but the above 2 things have seriously kept me from blogging.  Maybe I will have better luck this month.  As my brain is still growing, don't be upset if I don't remember all the updates.  Lets get to what I can remember, VISITORS!!!  I had a bunch of visitors this last weekend, who were they you ask?  Pop Pop, Grandma, Aunt Rhonda, and cousin Siera came down for a visit.  Siera was going to look at KU for college.  I heard that she really liked it and is one of her top choices to go to school.  It is that crazy out of state tuition that might change her mind, dad told Aunt Rhonda he would adopt her if he can claim her on his taxes.  Would that make her my big sister?  I digress, we would absolutely love Siera to go to school there, that way she would be close to us for visits.  She is so much fun to hang out with! Dad is trying to negotiate a babysitting deal, by offering to pay her phone bill.  No pressure!  Lets set up the visit first.  Last week Wednesday night it started to snow and mom and dad seemed to be a little down.  I overheard them saying that the snow might keep the vistors away.  I heard him on the phone a couple of times talking to grandma and aunt Rhonda telling them he would go half on plow rental.  When I woke up Thursday morning I found out that the Blizzard of Oz had come through, there was like six inches of snow already on the ground and it kept coming down.  I think all in all we received around 12 inches of snow that day....snOMG!  So that meant snow day from school and work.  Dad scooped the driveway and took me out to play in the snow.  It lasted about 5 minutes because when I got a little snow on my hand, that was it for being outside.  He was glad he took 10 minutes getting me ready to go.  Friday was a better day and dad dug out all morning and went to work in the afternoon, leaving us home alone with mom.  Later that night while sitting on the potty I heard the doorbell ring, so I ran out to see the visitors.  We had so much fun before bed time.  Heidi was held by everybody and enjoyed every minute of it.  Saturday was a blast and we had even more fun.  The girls went shopping for a new prom dress for Siera, which I might say made her look like Cinderella, but even more beautiful.  I wasn't sure if I could put any pictures up since she hasn't had prom yet.but I am hanging it up on my wall next to the other princesses.  I on the other hand milked everyone for some Minnie mouse stuff at the Disney store!

I wasn't real sure why mom and dad seemed so excited for this visit.  Well you see, since we had a house full they decided to take advantage and have a night out to celebrate their anniversary a bit early.  Thanks to Maddie's grandpa who hooked them up with a room at the Argosy casino, they had their first night away from us girls ever (well Oma watched me when Heidi came into this world, but they say that doesn't count as a 'free night from kids').  I guess they figured with 4 adults to us 2 kids, things would be handled.  We did have a lot of fun together, and by the sounds of it mom and dad had a great time despite not coming home with big winnings as I directed
K - Amelia, let me talk too, will ya?  I had a lot of fun getting to know them again (it WAS a 1/3 of my life since I had last seen them after all).  I think they were quite impressed with my verbal prowess.  That's right, I'm a talker.  Well, Siera says that a lot of the time (especially when I'm tired) I sound like an old squeaky door.  Not sure that is a compliment.  We really did have a lot of fun together, but I started to think that they were getting a bit caucky thinking that us girls were such a breeze...so I decided to give them a run for their money later that night.  You see, it was the first time anyone but mom has laid me down for the night, they couldn't expect that I would just let them off easy, right?  Needless to say, they got some earfuls from me...and I enjoyed a lot of walking around, rocking, and hugs.  I think they forgave me.  I just flashed my toothless grin the next day and we were back on good ground.

Sunday we had some fun outside in the snow, it may have taken a bunch of prodding to get me out there...I mean come on, it is cold and yucky/wet.  But once I saw daddy and Siera building a super cool snow man, I had to get in on the action.  We made a daddy snow man relaxing and a cinderella pretty one.  They are awesome.  Grandma started a snowball fight, which i happily engaged in.  I guess this snow stuff can be fun after all.

Look...a deer came in our back yard.  That didn't happen at the
old place!
Unfortunately, they all had to head out Monday AM to KU when we went to school.  Little did I know, I would only be going to school for a few hours.  They sent me home saying I had 'pink eye'.  I will admit, I did have a bad cold (yep...blaming you Siera!)...but pink eye?  I did have a fever and just wanted to be held...so I was OK with being booted out.  Luckilly dad is really slow at work, so he came and picked me up and took me to the doctor. She wasn't sure what was wrong, but gave dad the strong white medicine to kick its butt.  Along with some ibruprofen I started feeling better.  Just in time for SNOWmagedon Part 2.  Seriously, we had virtually no winter and now the last days of February we get something like 19".  That is up past my tummy for those wondering.  Luckily, for me I haven't been feeling well, so I haven't been thrown out in the middle of the yard for measuring purposes.  Seems like something they would do.  All of this snow, meant we had 4 "snow days" where we couldn't go to school.  Not so bad if you ask me.  Mom keeps talking about how she wishes she could just stay home with us....well thanks to SNOWtorious B.I.G she got her wish.  She said it wasn't quite the same when she was actually having to get work done at the same time.  Beggars can't be choosers lady!  Don't complain, we could just move closer to family and then you wouldn't be stuck with sick kids on snow days and working!  I'm guessing you all would back me up on that, right?!  Let's be honest, sis....we probably are not the most fun to be around these days.  What, with you giving me your awesome runny nose, etc.  Yep, right when we finally get to go back to school - I started feeling bad thanks to my germ factory of a sister.  I do alright during the day, but it has hit me hard during the nights.  In turn, I can't help but want to scream and/or be held, right?  Mom & dad have been taking turns with me (and going up to tend to sicky #1, Amelia) so they kind of seemed like walking zombies the last few days.  Believe me when I say our entire family just wants to have a sleepy sick free weekend.
This was before the runny nose.  Check out my long eyelashes!

Yes, we will try our best to oblige.  Last night we made them very happy, with both sleeping 11 hours.  That will be our 5th anniversary present to the 'rents.  Happy Anniversary a couple days late, we are sure glad you got together!  The world is a MUCH better place because of it!  Oh and while I am giving well wishes.... Happy Birthday to Grandpa McLain....he turned, well older..today!

And speaking of birthdays...I just turned 5 months old!  Yep, I am getting big.  Mom keeps telling me to slow down so she can enjoy me being a baby, but I want to catch up to Amelia!  Here are a couple of my 5 month pictures.  I don't know that I have changed that much since last month: highlights, I still have my hair and bald spot of course.  I am rolling over more often.  I LOVE my exersaucer and hang out there and giggle a lot.  Yes, if you tickle me in the right spots I give you some good belly laughs too.  And I still totally look up to my big sister.  She is the be all end all if you ask me!  Love her so much. The feeling is mutual - don't you worry!  Enough of our love fest....Amelia & Heidi OUT!

Photo bomb!
And a few other random pics from a couple weeks ago:
Yes, I was gnawing on the bone.  Is there something wrong with that?
Seems like forever ago that we could go outside without snow, but it wasn't that long ago.  Here is a video and some pics to prove it!

Oh, geez...I almost forgot about a birthday party that me and mom went to.  Our friend Lukas turned 1 on valentines day!  He had a huge party with LOTS of kids...and CAKE.  So you know I was a fan.  They even had a room where we could decorate cookies.  It was a blast!

Speaking of eating....I have not got any cake or cookies, but I did get to try some oatmeal today.  Not bad!
