Hi, it's me... Amelia. Did you forget about me? The last 2 weeks have just flown by, but I decided I couldn't wait any longer to send you guys some updates, I can't very well become old news, can I! So, daylight savings hit us this weekend, and I am going to say....I am not a fan. Seriously...who wants to wake up when it is still pitch dark outside? NOT this girl....and I have made that quite clear to mom & dad the last few mornings. I am told that I should like this, because we can go outside later after dinner, etc....but so far I'm not totally sold. We'll see. I do enjoy going out to enjoy this amazing weather we are having, but unfortunately I'm paying for it with runny eyes and nose. Yep, I think those pesky allergies have come back to bug me.

Main updates from the past couple weeks were of course on the weekend. The 1st weekend of March we had some visitors. Yep, dad & mom's friends the Pinkelmans came to KC. We met up with them on Saturday for lunch at Fritz's....I thought the girls would also enjoy having the train serve us the food. I mean, who wouldn't? Totally cool. They then played around Crown Center while I came home to nap so I was well rested when they showed up to play. Dad was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be cool with them playing with my toys, but I decided they are way bigger than me so I better suck it up and do this 'sharing' thing I hear about. It wasn't so bad. I actually found them pretty fun! We all went to dinner to a Chinese buffet....Abby's favorite. It was my first venture to such a place. Of course, no major complaints from me as I was able to find plenty of meat to eat. I was told it was chicken, but I hear you never can tell at those places. Nonetheless, I was fufilled. Mom on the other hand had quite the stomach ache. Perhaps it was the plate full of crab rangoons she ate?? Hmmmm...... All in all, I thought it was fun having the visitors. I'm sure the girls were underwhelmed with my toy selection, but they survived.
Jumping right to the next weekend, because again....not much exciting to report on the school front. Actually, I got in some trouble as Ava and I had some back and forth on the biting front last week, perhaps with a bit of extra 'back' on my part. Dad says maybe we are too close of friends and too comfortable with each other. I just say, sue me if I want some alone time every once in a while. I am told I need to learn to get use to having others around me and learn to be more patient. Hmmm....dad, have you heard that before? Chip off the old block....

Oh some other 'fun' I had last week, was a trip to the Dr. I made it quite clear from the minute the nurse walked in the room that I knew what was going to happen and I didn't want any of what they were selling. Unfortunately, they did not listen and I still had to get a stupid shot. Other than that, I was given a clean bell of health. I weighed in at 22 lbs (still the 25 percentile) and measure out at 31 1/2 inches tall back up to completely average! You can see all the stats

After those rough couple days at school, needless to say I was quite happy when I found out that we were playing hookie Thurs & Fri...and going to Nebraska! So we packed up the car Thursday AM and headed out. I don't remember too much of the drive, so it must have been fairly low key. Mom was chipper because she found out she had a job (dad and I were not worried). We made it to Lincoln to spend some time with grandma. We skype enough that I was ready to go give her a hug right away this time, I think she liked that. We didn't hang out too long as we had to get across town for a big basketball game. Yep, it was state basketball and my cousin Zach was going to play (and my uncle Matt is the big head coach!). As soon as we got there, who did i see...but grandpa McLain! Yep, he was there to say hi to us and cheer on Hartington C.C. too! Awesome. Not so awesome was the super loud band. I wasn't quite prepared for that. We said hi to a few people on our way and then went and sat next to grandma Steffen, Rachelle, Brian, and more! Once we got seated, I was pretty sure I needed to sit on only mom or dad's lap to stay safe from all the chaos. But as long as I was with them, I thought all the activity was quite entertaining. Due to an unfortunate diaper change timing, I missed seeing my cousins Siera and Bailey dance at halftime. I was very disappointed about that, but I heard they rocked. It was an exciting game, right down to the last second - but they pulled off a big win. Everyone was quite excited! A bunch of us all went to eat at a bar and grill afterward. Needless to say after the nachos at the game, I wasn't real hungry - so I hung out with grandma and watched Mallorie and friends play pool. I think I could be pretty good at that. If i could reach the table that is. After dinner, we went back to Grandma Janice's for some fun and a well deserved night of sleep!
The next morning after dad went and got us some fabulous donuts from Conroy's....mmmm....we headed over to the hotel to visit with all of the family. I try to get pumped up and tell myself to not be shy....but it is so hard when all these people come at me and want to hold me. I know they love me, but I just have my personal bubble that I really don't like too many people to break. So I pretty much stayed with grandma or mom & dad. The highlight was when we got to go to swim! I had a blast playing in the pool, especially with Jay he was quite the fish! We then went and enjoyed a lunch at Panera with our friend Rob, where I chose to eat the yogurt over my mac n'cheese....who would have guessed that? I guess I was a bit tired, because I went back to the hotel and eventually crashed with mom and took a nice long nap. We woke up and got in the stroller and headed downtown to watch the 2nd half of Cedar's semi-final game. Apparently I wasn't as good of luck the 2nd time around as they had a rough time of it. But they lost to an undefeated/dominating team so I think they still should be proud! I talked dad into stopping and getting me some good Husker goodies to be displayed soon, I'm sure before heading back to order some of our favorite Indian food to bring home for dinner with grandma Janice. All in all it was a great day.

I thought Saturday would be a bit more laid back, but my morning was full of fun! We took dad to the hotel so I could say bye to all aunts/uncles/cousins and he could go watch them win 3rd place (way to go!). Then mom, grandma Janice, and I walked down to the Children's Museum! This place was AH-mazing. The one here pales in comparison. Not only were there SUPER cool things to do, but we also got to see mom's friend Sarah and her girls Anabel and Eloise who are almost 1 AND I got to meet mom's friend Jane and her son Cruz that is just a couple months older than me. Sweet! We played and climbed on things, found big chairs, a cool kitchen, airplanes, and even played in the Husker room. You could spend an entire day at that place! All in all, it was tons of fun. But eventually we had to leave, so we went over to Chipotle for some lunch (can't go wrong there!) before heading back to grandma's for a nap and then lots of playing. We colored, blew bubbles, went for a wagon ride to the park, like I said....lots of fun!

As you can tell, I had a great weekend seeing all of my family. It wore me out, so I slept pretty much the whole way home. I think dad appreciated that. All this talk of fun has worn me out yet again....so until next time. Amelia OUT!

2. Number 2 big change coming is an impending move. Say what? We cleaned the house up last week, I thought just to be clean. But then this strange guy came over and took some pics on Monday and the next 2 days dad picked me up from school and we met mom out for dinner as opposed to going home, I figured out that was strange when we got home Wednesday to find people at our house. Ummm....where is a girls privacy? Anyway, later that night....we got our second offer (this time full asking price) and apparently that meant the inevitable. I now have to move. I really love our house and neighborhood, so I am not sure what to think about it. Dad said I will be thankful once we find a new house to have more room and not have the loud kitchen right next to my bedroom so I can sleep longer. We'll see about that dad, we'll see.... Obviously I will keep you all posted on what comes of all of this. The bonus part of this crazy house fiasco is grandma and grandpa Steffen came down this weekend to see me and hang out with me while mom and dad went house shopping. Apparently they didn't think I would enjoy 6 hours of getting in and out of the car and climbing up steps in strangers houses, etc. I think they were right, had a way better time going on walks and playing with the g-parents! As you can see we even went out to dinner one night and for a walk after to get some frozen yogurt. I thoroughly enjoyed grandpa's shake!
Yep, turns out I'm going to be a big sister. What's that? You heard me right. We are adding to the family and Steffen 2.0 is expected at the end of September. Talk about surprises! To be honest, I am not sure what this all means other than I have a feeling that 2.0 is part of the reason for this move. Marley does not seem overly thrilled with moving further down the family pole....mom seems super stressed, dad and I are just going with the flow. I'm pretty sure I will make a good big sister......as long as they do what I tell them to that is.
