10/28/2010

Hello!  I know you all have missed me, so let me give you the updates on the happenings of the last week.  Last weekend I had a great time hanging out with mom & dad, we did a lot of the usual.  Of course that begins with watching some football.  I wore my red to support the Huskers against OK State's high powered offense.  I was a bit worried, but who knew that we had a good offense too!  I was lovin' watching all the scoring and there was a lot of it (51-41 - Wow!).  Let's just hope the same team shows up when Mizzou comes to town this Saturday.  We all know that playing at home is not our strong point.

Mom & Dad were feeling good on Sunday so we planned some outings.  First it was church.  My mom wasn't sure how I would do so I didn't get to go in and listen to the music in the beginning, but eventually she gave in and I got to hear a few of the tunes.  We sat in the back, again because of their fear of me disrupting, whatever... I slept through most of it.  (No reflection on the pastor, I just had a long night).  Dad was getting a bit antsy toward the end so he walked the back with me.... Ok, maybe I was getting a bit antsy.  After church we took a trip to Babies R'Us.  Dad says this place has taken a lot of money from us...we did leave with some packages.  When I got home I found out they bought me this super sweet glider thing.  I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I'm liking it!

Monday Grandma McLain and Sadie came for a visit.  I had a lot of fun.  Grandma held me and rubbed my back, who wouldn't love that?!  I guess all those massages really relaxed me, because I have been very sleepy.  I slept over 6 hours the other night, mom & dad were so proud of me!!  Of course I followed it with a much shorter night last night.  : )  I'm still learning!  Grandma also did some cooking while she was here and made something mom calls 'cheese pockets'.  She was SO happy, because it is one of her favorites.  I haven't quite decided if I like it so much yet, but mom says that she is tired of me not liking the foods she likes (caffeine, chocolate, etc.).  What does she want from me?  My tummy is small!  Speaking of that, they keep telling me I am so skinny.  We'll find out when I go to the doctor next week, but I really just think I'm trim.  Mom says it is probably because I burn so many calories when I am in my favorite places (i.e. on my back on the ottoman or activity mat).  I just love, love, love kicking my legs.  They say that I am going to be a good swimmer, marathon runner, or maybe a drummer.  I just know it makes me happy.  Sometimes Marley comes up to see what I'm doing.  We really are getting along well.

Ok, I need to sign off to get some beauty rest.  You see, tonight I'm off to see some friends.  I get to wear my Halloween costume.  More on that next time.  Until then....

Amelia out.

10/22/2010

It has been an entire week since my last post, so I have some work to do to catch you up.  Apparently, I shaped up the way mom wanted me to last week, but I don't remember getting much of a reward.  I'll need to talk to her about that.  Anyway, after a low key end to the week with lots of sleep (I am sleeping around 5 1/2 hours at night...but never longer!)....the weekend came.  Saturday mom and dad took me to my first trip to Costco.  That place is crazy, there were people everywhere, so I went ahead and slept most of the time.  Plus I needed to sleep so I could get ready for the big game.  That's right, the day I have been waiting for (well for the last 6 weeks) was finally here.  Time for REDemption against those Longhorns.  I got dressed in my onesie especially for the occasion and my friend Stephanie and her fiance Deron came to join in cheering on the Huskers.  Unfortunately, the team (especially the receivers) forgot to show up.  I definitely shed a few tears, luckilly Steph was there to hold me.  Although, dad said not to get used to it because apparently everytime they come over for a game our team loses.  That is some crappy luck!!     Thank God we are going to the Big 10, so we don't have to keep getting beat by Texas.  Enough about that stuff.

Sunday Grandma and Grandpa Steffen came down to visit me and boy was that nice.  Grandma held me lots...anytime I was fussy, awake, or asleep.  Grandpa held me when I was happy or asleep, I can't be too upset about that.  Anyway, while I was fussy grandpa built some stands for our washer and dryer.  Mom wished he would have came down and done that while I was still inside of her, so she didn't have to bend down as far.  But I think mom & dad have a lot more laundry to do with all my stuff so it is going to be super helpful.  We had a great time together, grandma made fried chicken one night and we even all went to dinner at a restaurant one night.  Everyone ate quite well....mom says that includes me, because I slept pretty well.  They also thought it was funny that I like my bumbo chair so much, I'm a big fan of chillin' out with the fam in my chair.

Yesterday was my last day of hanging out with Maddie and her mom.  Apparently her mom started back to work today, so mom said that means no more brunches, etc. with them.  Booooo.  We had one last hurrah at Eggtc. where we had a crazy waitress who thought we were twins.  What?  She also thought I was a boy minus the pink coat and blanket I was wearing.  I really need to grow some hair.  Anyway, after brunch we hung out at her house a bit.  Maddie seems to enjoy hanging out in her mom's arms....I on the other hand have decided this week that it is much more comfortable and liberating hanging by myself.  Preferably flat on my back...at home, I enjoy the ottoman.  But the patio table worked just fine when we were on their deck.

Marley and I hanging out.  These stripes don't do much for my figure.

Dad walking with me during one of my 'spells'
The only picture my mom took from book club
Ok, mom said I have to be open with everyone and tell people that I am not perfect all the time like I like to try and tell you.  She says that I have stretched her patience with all my screaming.  But she has stretched my patience with her not helping me when I scream.  Hopefully this is not the beginning to many years of mis-communicating.  Apparently I have to find other ways to tell her what ails me.  After Monday & Tuesday's 'fun', I did learn that the screaming wasn't getting me anywhere.  In fact, once I stopped screaming I got to go somewhere.  Mom took me to something called a 'book club'.  To me it looked like a bunch of girls hanging out a nice restaurant.  I did see a book on the table though.  Of course, Maddie was there and I was hoping that we may get to chat about my book "Look, Look" as I know she has it to, but I was so exhausted (from the aforementioned crying) we didn't really talk.  I did however get to meet some more friends and although I was sleeping, I felt some new warm arms on me.  Mom told me that was Kim and Stu (apparently dads are allowed to crash the end of book clubs).  I would post a picture of them holding me, but that would have required mom to take a picture.  She blames me giving her a rough day for her not being on top of the picture taking, I am beginning to see what consequences and rewards are.  Anyway, I have been trying hard the last couple of days and do everything I am suppose to.  I can't wait to find out what my reward is!!

10/12/10

Jack and Jay spend some quality time with me.
Gabby and me!
I am still recovering from the happenings of the weekend.  I did so many first things it isn't even funny.  Friday, Maddie came over with her mom.  We had a good time walking to get coffee and enjoying the nice fall weather.  It was nice and relaxing...which was good because things got a bit louder the next day when I met more of my cousins on dad's side.  My uncle Matt and aunt Brenda came down with my cousins Bailey, Jack, Gabby, Jay, and Will.  It was so exciting to meet them and have them hold and pet me.  Will was the one that pet me.  We had a great time when they came over on Saturday with some hamburgers and brats to grill out.  They all held me and the boys played some football in the backyard.  They had to use a flat volleyball because we didn't have a football.  Jack made fun of dad for not having one.  It was such a nice day that we spent most of the day outside, plus our house is kind of small for that many people.  That night Matt, Brenda, mom, dad, and myself went out to eat in the Legends.  I slept the whole time,  dad was so relieved.  It was nice to watch them catch up, they haven't seen them for a long time.  We found out that their lake house will be done by Christmas, so dad says we are going to stay there sometime when we go back.

Bailey and me chilling on deck!
The next day we went shopping with them.  Will used my ride, so dad put me in the Moby and carried me around.  He told mom that people are so much nicer when you have a cute baby with you.  People were opening doors for him and smiling at him.  I think that he liked the attention, but would not admit it.  After shopping for awhile they wanted to eat at T-rex, but dad thought that there would be too many germs in that place with all the kids in there.  I will go back when I get older.  We grabbed a quick bite to eat and were going to head home, but I had to have my diaper changed in the back of the Prius because the changing table in Panera was being used, thank God for hatchbacks.

This week dad has had training at night so he hasn't been home to help mom as much, so instead of making her Monday easy I gave her a hard time.  I was fussy for most of the day and I think that she was getting frustrated with me.  When dad came home I straightened up and went to sleep.  He thinks its because he calms me, but it is just that I was so tired from being fussy with mom I was just worn out.  Tuesday morning dad was home until lunch when he had to go to training,  I hung with him most of the morning.  I slept most of the time, saving my energy to give mom a hard time in the afternoon.  She sent dad a video of me crying, with a message saying that this had been going on for 1 1/2 hours so far.  Apparently I need to figure out a new way to get her to understand how upset I am if all she does is send him a video.

I must say I enjoy checking myself out in the mirror

10/8/2010

It's a quiet Friday night here in our house and I have a busy weekend ahead of me, so I thought I would first get you all caught up on the happenings of this week now.

Mom got me dressed up in this pretty sweater for a picture.
Let me start off with the most exciting thing.  I am ONE month old, that's right...mom and dad haven't done too bad because I made the 1 month mark safe and sound.  I celebrated the big day on the Plaza with my usual buddy Maddie and her mom.  Apparently we only have a few more weeks to hang out together during these nice days before she starts going to something called daycare.  That doesn't sound nearly as fun as lunching on the Plaza.
A clothing change later,  dad thought we should also pose with Marley.
Ava and her mom Christina
Mom & Dad put me in my new onesie and took some pictures of me and Marley.  She may have a few pounds on me now, but she doesn't know what is coming!  After a photo session, we went over to meet Ava.  Seriously, I have so many new friends, I am one lucky girl.  Ava was pretty sleepy when I was there, so we didn't do a lot of talking but I'm sure we will have many chances to gab in the future.  Ava is really cute, she was born 3 days after me but she's a bit bigger than me too.  I am sensing a trend...I wonder if I am always going to be the smallest girl on the block.

Dad & I were WAY into watching the 'Skers
Actually I made my 1 month trip to the doctor on Thursday and she actually confirmed the above.  I weighed in at 8lbs 6oz, which puts me in the 25th percentile.  To those of you as clueless as me, means that 75% of girls my age weigh more than me.  But for length I am totally average.  I am 50% so right in the middle at 20 3/4 inches.  That is less than an inch growth from birth, but keep in mind I did have that massive conehead that skewed those early numbers a bit.  Thank goodness that went down, because I plan on sporting cute hats in the future.  Otherwise everything went good with the Doc, apparently I am on the right track.  I had a rough day before going in, I just did NOT feel good and I let my mom know it by screaming and not sleeping most of the day.  I think it may have been due to some nerves, dad put the thought in my head that my Huskers were going to be upset by K-State.  We were suppose to watch the game with the Ludlow's (Patty is a K-Stater) but mom said I lost privileges of hanging with friends because of my actions early in the day.  Whatever, blame dad.  I need to stop listening to him because we ROLLED all over those Wildcats.  You know that the Huskers are undefeated in my life time.  One down on our way to a Big 12 championship before playin' with the big dogs in the Big X next year.
Think we look alike?
All right, bedtime is calling my name....Amelia Out.

10/5/2010

Hey, hey...so I feel like I have had some fun-filled days since last I posted.  The only problem is I am not sure if all of my memory capabilities have fully formed in my brain...but here it goes.

I think Ryder and I were both a bit hungry.
Last Thursday, Mom, Dad, & I took a road trip to visit another future friend.  This is the first boy I have met, he seems pretty cool.  Dad tells me that I can't be alone with any boys for the next 18 years, not sure why...he doesn't seem so bad.  We seem to do pretty much the same things; hang out, eat, sleep, etc.  His name is Ryder and technically he is older than me, but he decided to not follow the light to the outside world quite as quickly as me therefore I am officially a week older than him.   Seriously,  it was nice and quiet in there...but I have no regrets that I found my way out sooner...there is so much room to flail my arms and legs out here.  Love it!

The next day mom and I ventured out to meet Maddie and her mom Patty at the Plaza.  That is after we had to turn around and go home because mom forgot to bring my stroller.  Geez, do I have to do everything?!  Anyway, we hung outside a coffee shop and enjoyed some drinks.  Ok, Maddie and I chilled in our strollers, it was so nice outside.  We then all did a bit of shopping at the Gap until it was eating time for me.  Mom found a couple of things on sale for me that I am pretty excited to try on.

Our other most recent outing included making our first trip to church.  The place was pretty cool, they even had a special room for mom and I to go to.  Mom sat in a comfy chair and watched the guy on TV.  Mom thought that I may disrupt the service, so we hung out there the whole time.  Of course all I did was sleep the whole time we hung in this room, but mom says that I sleep so loud that I would bother people too.  Sue me if I enjoy a few (or non-stop) grunts while I sleep.  I don't think they are a big deal but dad thinks it is hillarious.  I guess he caught a bit on his phone and put it on you-tube...seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9gmIkzNFp4
By the way I weigh 8 lbs. 5 oz.
